“Ice Breaker” or “Birth of the Black Hole”

For nearly a year, the idea of creating a color version of this piece, “Ice Breaker” or “Birth of the Black Hole” has been brewing in my mind. I wanted to give the image an icy-outer-space-type feel; therefore, I have chosen these icy-cold blue colors on top of the black and white.

I completed this color version on 29 December 2023. The original version is in black ink (below).

The white orb crashed violently through layers of ice, drawn in by the Black Hole at the center. The outer orb, the white orb’s twin, is following the same path and is being drawn in from the void, entering the Black Hole’s unyielding realm. In the end, everything will return to Black.

 

This is the original Pen & Ink drawing created on 35.6 CM x 43.2 CM Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface Heavyweight, Acid-Free 100% cotton paper (270 GSM - 100 LB). Completed on 18 December 2022:
