J. S. Bach: Sonata N° 3 in E Major, BWV 1016. Andrew Hardy, violin - Uriel Tsachor, piano

This is a recording from a LIVE Duo Recital at the Conservatoire Royal Brussels (Andrew Hardy, violin & Uriel Tsachor, piano. Violin: Josef Guadagnini, Cremona 1783. Piano: Steinway) in the heart of Brussels, Belgium.

In this video, I chose to exhibit several of my “earlier period” paintings.

The Grand Salle at the Conservatoire Royal Brussels has exquisitely beautiful acoustics, and therefore it has always been a great pleasure for me to perform there.

Together with my superb collaborator/pianist Uriel Tsachor, we opened our program with this gorgeous Sonata in E Major, BWV 1016 by J. S. Bach. The program followed with the gigantic, and rarely performed Sonata (dedicated to the great Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe) by Albéric Magnard, then the incredibly melancholic Vidui (from the Baal Shem Suite) by Ernest Bloch, followed by the sensuous, extroverted and passionate Sonata by Guillaume Lekeu (also dedicated to Eugène Ysaÿe). Our encore was the beautiful Rêve d’enfant by Eugène Ysaÿe.

This is our 4 CD set of Sonatas Dedicated to Eugéne Ysaÿe (available on Amazon and elsewhere)…
