“The Smiling Leaf”
"The Smiling Leaf" was Completed on 22 February 2023. The method in this drawing is similar to two of my previous Artworks, "Construction Feminine" and "Mirrors and Noodles", and I suppose, together, they form a little triptych.
I think it was a wishful day, thinking that springtime was on the way…. I like the clean curvy lines, the balance, movement, and spontaneity in this drawing, and the little leaves and flowers that developed and represent the feeling of Springtime. After commencing by drawing an uninterrupted, continuous, and rhythmic line (without lifting the pen point from the paper) I then began filling in one space; “The Smiling Leaf” (the elongated '“leaf” above the bottom, slightly off-center), and the rest of the drawing followed from that idea.
