"Mirrored Collision"

Happy New Year 2025 to everyone!

I recently completed the above Pen & Ink drawing titled "Mirrored Collision," (measuring 30.43 cm x 40.64 cm on Stonehenge Aqua Hotpress Acid-Free 100% cotton paper) on December 12, 2024.

The composition follows the principle of the “Rule of Thirds” (a compositional technique often used in photography), with the centers of two opposing circles positioned at the upper right third and lower left third.

The circles are divided into 36 rays, which overlay each other, creating the effect of a collision (or splintered mirror). After establishing this initial layout, I spent the next two weeks engaged in the intuitive process of balancing various patterns—a meticulous and slow-going task!
